Orthopedic surgery clinic seeking experienced Referral/Authorization Coordinator. This position works with insurance companies and patients to obtain precertifications, authorizations and referrals for services ordered/scheduled. Maintains a high level of understanding of insurance companies and billing authorization/referral requirements. Communicates closely with doctors, MAs, front desk and billing to insure we have the authorizations we need PRIOR to a scheduled appointment. Ensures insurance carrier documentation requirements are met and authorization/referral documentation is scanned and documented in the patient's medical record.

Responsible for reviewing and submitting all follow-up authorizations, recertifications and referrals. Appeals denials and/or set-up peer to peer reviews. Pre-screens appointment schedules and works 1 out with provider schedules but must take care to watch daily for add-ons that may require immediate attention. Maintains contact with patients regarding status of auths.

We are looking for someone with a great work ethic who is able to work independently without supervision but also works closely with others and is willing to jump in and help with phones and scheduling or whatever may be needed. It is important to stress that we are a cross-trained clinic and believe in helping each other so that everyone can get out on time. MUST have a minimum of 2 years experience in all phases of insurance, including DOL, wk comp, government and commercial insurances. Experience in orthopedics, bilingual or experience on eClinical EMR systems are a plus.
