As a Medical Records Specialist, you will serve in one of the many integral roles of a diverse patient care team. The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for ensuring a positive patient experience; through providing clerical and administrative support to the care team. The main purpose of Medical Assistant Medical Records position is to provide medical record services for VVHC and ensuring accurate and complete medical records requests.


Responsibilities, Deliverables, Outcomes and Expectations

Participates in Pre-Visit planning for assigned primary care team

Arrives timely, pleasant demeanor, positive attitude, and team oriented

Accurate and timely documentation in EHR

Responsible to maintain EHR user knowledge to effectively complete documentation

Accurately scan necessary documents into EHR

Sort incoming and outgoing fax box to appropriate staff

Conduct daily review/tracking of all incoming medical records requests

Complete medical records requests within time frames established in applicable policy and procedure

Comply with all HIPPA, privacy, and PHI standards and regulations

Type, file, copy, fax, and perform clerical duties as directed

Responsible to provide tracking list to supervisor for medical records audit as directed

Answers calls regarding Medical Records requests

Comply with all HIPAA, privacy, and PHI standards and regulations

Complete assigned tasks as directed by Quality Services Manager or Director of Nursing and Clinical Operations

Attends meeting, conferences, and/or trainings


Minimum Requirements…

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience with Microsoft Office, and Medical Terminology

Medical Assistant, CPR Certifications

Preferred Qualifications…

1-2 years medical office or medical records experience
