Duties:
- Under the direction of the Director/Deputy Director for the Center for Aging and Long- Term Care Regulatory and Policy Initiatives, the Medicaid Program Manager will:
- Provide direct support and meet deliverables for high-level projects that span across offices and centers within the Office of Aging and Long-Term Care, as well as across multiple offices within the NYS Department of Health.
- Manage research projects in aging and long-term care under the direction of Center leadership team
- Work in a fast paced environment with the team coordinating and administering the work of the Master Plan for Aging (MPA) by assisting with research requests, developing content for internal and external stakeholder engagements
- Conduct necessary searches for information on existing laws, regulations and policies issued by the Department of Health and New York State Office for the Aging around current requirements and parameters related to the provision of services and supports to adults and individuals with disabilities.
- Assist with the collection and analysis of information submitted through surveys, questionnaires and discussions with MPA committee, subcommittee and workgroup members necessary to inform their scope of work and objectives.
- Assist with planning, collecting and synthesizing information gathered at public forums (e.g., town halls, listening sessions).
- Research policies and recommendations and conduct outreach to other states following development of their respective Master Plan for Aging.
- Review best practice models and approached to delivering services and supports to older adults and individuals with disabilities.
- Assist with development of agenda, meeting materials and briefing documents for Master Plan for Aging Committees and focus groups.
- Actively participate in MPA processes such as subcommittee meetings and events designed to obtain stakeholder and public input.
- Bachelors Degree, in a healthcare related field. A Master Degree in a healthcare related field can substitute for one year of experience
- 10 years of experience
- 5 years of subject matter expertise
- Knowledgeable of the long care system and industry
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Knowledge and/or experience of the long-term care system in New York State.
- Ability to create tables, charts and graphs based on data trends
- Proficiency in Word, Power Point, and Excel
- Strong ability to synthesize information and present to senior leaders
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Strong problem-solving skills.
