Merrick is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for our Greenwood Village, CO office. This position supports our Nuclear Services & Technology team that provides full service nuclear design solutions to the federal government (DOE, NNSA, and NIST), nuclear research, and nuclear medicine. This highly motivated team-oriented Mechanical Engineer would support HVAC system design projects in our Los Alamos office. Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
Job Description
The successful candidate will design HVAC and Plumbing/Piping system for a variety of facility projects. Tasks include developing design calculations, process flow diagrams, sequences of operation, equipment selection and layout, ductwork and piping sizing and layout, support of project proposals, interdisciplinary coordination and participating of QA/QC process.
Requirements
- Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Sciences in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program is required.
- Minimum five (5) years related experience.
- Experience with thermal load calculation and energy modeling for mechanical systems.
- Experience in calculating and sizing of mechanical equipment including AHUs, fans and pumps.
- Experience in sizing and laying out ductwork and hydronic piping systems.
- Must be familiar with AutoCAD.
- Must have experience with Revit building information modeling software.
- Professional Engineering license is a plus.
- Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
Responsibilities
- Must be willing to work in a design team environment, as well as take design direction from senior-level engineers
- Develop calculations, flow diagrams, and specifications
- Size and layout ductwork, hydronic and plumbing piping systems
- Familiar with applicable codes, standards, and guidelines

- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as but not limited to computers, phones, printers/plotters, scanners, and copiers.

Typical salary range for this position is $78,000.00 - $90,000.00. The pay range listed in this posting indicates the position’s eligibility to work in the state of Colorado and is consistent with our offices there; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
