This position is with Combatant Ship Integration & Test in Virginia Beach, supporting the development, modification, and integration of AEGIS Combat System design changes in new construction and modernization of US Navy combatant ships. Responsibilities include assisting senior engineers:

• In the review of vendor installation control drawings to develop technical data package products.
• Generate and maintain liquid cooling and dry air flow diagrams and load analyses for combat system equipment.
• Conduct modeling and simulation of equipment cooling systems using the SIMSMART and Icepak software programs.
• Analyze existing equipment cooling system designs and recommend use and location of isolation and transfer devices to ensure seamless operation or fastest recovery in casualty situations.
• Develop cooling system studies and prepare technical reports.
• Perform shipchecks to determine existing ship conditions.
• Provide on-site engineering support during installation and test of new equipment and systems.

Some travel required (< 20%) for training and to waterfront locations, and short-term work in an industrial environment may be required.
Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited college or other technical degree in a related discipline
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Ability to write detailed reports and effectively prepare and give presentations

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of USN AEGIS Combat System equipment
• Experience in the shipbuilding or power plant industry
• Experience in design, installation and test of mechanical support systems including cooling water (demineralized, chilled, seawater), HVAC and compressed air; experience in performing fluid flow and heat transfer calculations and analyses
• Experience with AutoCAD

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
