The Opportunity
Mechanical Designer
As the Mechanical Designer you will prepare working plans, detailed drawings and complete mechanical or electrical drawings of moderately complex components and assemblies from notes, verbal instructions and rough or detailed sketches for engineering or manufacturing purposes, frequently using computerized equipment (e.g., CAD/CAM). You will be engineering computations, writing specifications and making adjustments in drawings or specifications. You will verify completed work, check dimensions, material and quantities to be used.
Location: Santa Clarita, CA
Salary Range: $69,700.00 - $108,000.00

Your Challange:

Prepares working plans, detailed drawings and complete mechanical or electrical drawings of complex components and assemblies from notes, verbal instructions and rough or detailed sketches for engineering or manufacturing purposes, frequently using computerized equipment (e.g., CAD/CAM).

Makes engineering computations, writes specifications, and makes adjustments in drawings or specifications.

Verifies completed work, checking dimensions, material, and quantities to be used.

Determine technical objectives and develop innovative, practical solutions to advance technical engineering problems. Provide technical support to failure investigations and bid responses.
Your Expertise:
-
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in electro-mechanical packaging, electronics or computer chassis design
-
Extensive experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
-
VPX & VME Electronics Packaging experience
-
Extensive experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance to ASME Y14.5.

Ability to create models and drawings, present design reviews, and perform trade studies and design reviews. Capable of coordinating multiple project responsibilities. Must be a team player and have knowledge of MS Office Suite.

Knowledge and experience in military ruggedization of electronic subsystems, MIL-STD-810 qualification, and familiarity with VITA standards for electronics and mechanical form factors

Associates degree from an accredited college or university
