United Aluminum Corporation, a specialty rolling mill in North Haven, CT, with unique rolling, annealing, and slitting capabilities, has produced Custom Rolled® Aluminum Coil since 1915. United Aluminum’s modern and clean facility is conveniently located off I-91 in North Haven, CT.

Our team is growing! We have an immediate opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our valued Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years’ experience of heavy industrial design experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be able to creatively design new equipment or modifications to existing equipment to enhance production capabilities or expand our product line. In addition, you may be required to redesign parts of existing equipment to eliminate or minimize maintenance issues.

Must be capable of the following duties:

• Produce individual component detail drawings for manufacturing.
• Produce machine assembly drawings for complex machinery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

General Qualifications - Skills/Competencies/Knowledge:

• Knowledge of component part dimensional and geometric tolerances.
• Familiar with machine assembly and installation procedures.
• Experience with automated machinery is a plus.
• Ability to work independently or in groups, as required.
• Strong team player and highly self-motivated individual.
• Ability to work after hours as required for equipment maintenance and new equipment installations.
• Good communication skills and ability to communicate with coworkers at all levels.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy industrial machinery design experience.
• Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or at least 10 years of relevant work history.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment.
• Ability to re-design equipment as required to eliminate lingering problems.
• must be proficient with modelling design software, AutoDesk Inventor preferred
• Ability to produce a clear PowerPoint Presentation for equipment design reviews.
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams
• Ability to manage multiple projects
