Job description
The Materials Planner will manage component, supplies and logistics to assure that daily production schedules are maintained. You will use SAP and other resources to track requirements and work with the suppliers allowing on time delivery of components, thus ship performance to the customer. You have the freedom to make decisions and job performance is important to the daily operation of our plant. You will work onsite in Lawrenceburg, TN plant location.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY:
1. You will report directly to the Materials Supervisor / Manager and are responsible for purchasing of productive and non-productive supplies from established supplier base and controlling inventory and associated costs.
2. You will work with Corporate Purchasing, maximizing SAP in supporting customers, suppliers and inter-company transfer of parts. Will analyze all purchased item requirements from MRP which defines all current and future demand.
3. Develop relationships with suppliers and customers and be in constant communications with them. Once approval has been obtained you will prepare material requisition and order using approved suppliers regarding the specification, quantities, pricing, due dates and the shipping information. This is part of the your daily standard work.
4. You will work directly with the Materials Supervisor / Manager on plant capacities, due dates, changes, and supplier requests on a daily basis, and then follow up with suppliers on issues that might arise.
5. Person will help develop a materials strategy that maximizes customer satisfaction and meets the established inventory targets. Work with Corporate Purchasing and suppliers on supplier delivery and quality issues and will advise the Materials Group of any impact on the customer delivery schedule.
6. Responsible for inventory accuracy and works with production on a strategy to meet the customers changing demands. Also responsible for the following:
a. Maintains purchasing records except pricing on both parts and supplier.

b. Compile, submit, and communicate all changes in purchasing item documentation affecting the suppliers.
c. Disposition of non-conforming materials and obsolete materials.
d. Complete ECR (Engineering Change Request) for purchased.
items.
e. Involved with cycle counts and physical inventory.
7. Do other jobs to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.
a. Understand customer requirements, packaging, logistics, and transit times.
b. Manage customer order fluctuations.
c. Maintain customer websites and portals.
d. Monitor customer on-time delivery.
e. Provide weekly schedules to our production team.
f. Monitors and tracks IPO and sample requests.
g. Provides monthly sales forecast for given product line.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. BS degree in Materials Management, Business or Accounting.
2. Two (2+) years Materials Control and / or Buyer experience working with MRP. Experience with SAP is beneficial.
3. Understand TS 16949 and ISO 14001 and how it relates to the materials group would also be beneficial.
