Job Summary
The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. Reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisor to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material.
Primary Duties

  • Read work orders and follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Load materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area by securing lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
  • Count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
Additional Duties
  • Open containers.
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Load truck for Industrial Truck Operator.
  • Stack or assemble materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
  • Clamp sections of portable conveyor together or places conveyor sections on blocks or boxes to facilitate movement of materials or products. Remove samples of materials, labels with identifying information, and takes samples to laboratory for analysis.
  • Lift heavy objects by hand or with power hoist.
  • Clean work area, machines and equipment to assist machine operators.
  • Makes simple adjustments or repairs such as realigning belts or replacing rollers.
  • Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)
  • High School Diploma, General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • Preferred one-year experience in related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be able to stand, reach, and walk for long periods of time.
  • A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
