The Manipulator Repair Group at Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Manipulator Repair Group Technician.
Our team works an on-site 4x12 schedule located at our MFC facilities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform mechanical and electrical repair on manipulators in nuclear and radiological facilities.
- Under general supervision, provide feedback and input on activities, follow technical procedures and specifications, and follow company policies and standard processes.
- Maintain a questioning attitude, have a strong desire to perform the best job possible in an efficient and productive manner, and use Human Performance Tools as standard practice.
- Complete assignments and update the foreperson on status each day.
- Perform nuclear facility corrective/preventive maintenance in the most safe and efficient manner. Perform/receive on the job training (OJT) and escort duties for other technicians, as required.
- Attend training as advised by the training schedule and supervision. Satisfactorily complete required oral or written examinations associated with training.
- Participate in work order planning and walk downs, material identification/recommendation, and material procurement.
- Review and understand the work order prior to commencing work.
- Participate in company safety programs including but not limited to VPP, ALARA and EST.
- Must be capable of reading plant drawings, field sketches, apply math equations, and be proficient in the use of hand tools and precision instruments of the trade.
- Continuously monitor work activities and advise supervision of needed changes.
- Maintain records of work performed and pass on necessary information to supervision or oncoming crew.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED with 1 year of mechanical experience.
- Must have the ability and willingness to qualify as a Radiological Technician 2 and be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including respiratory protection and protective clothing.
- Must work well on a team or on an individual basis, and have ability to collaborate with the customer, engineering, and other support personnel.
- Must have understanding of mechanical principles and a basic understanding of electrical principles.
- Ability to perform repairs in a glove box or through a glove wall, in contamination areas wearing appropriate PPE, at elevated positions using remote and direct controlled devices, and through use of other equipment to assist. This includes cranes, electro-mechanical machines, special design lifting devices, and special design tools.
- This position will work a 4 x 12 sliding NIGHT shift. Candidates must be willing and able to work a night shift schedule including weekends.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information
- Salary: $37.88/hour (Rate can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change. These are bargaining unit positions.)
