Position Summary
The Product Development Manager leads the global development of new solutions to expand Colorcon’s product offerings to maintain being a trusted partner across the pharmaceutical and nutritional value chain.
Lead, develop and support a team of scientists to drive innovation through ideation, new product development and application development.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop a strong positive team culture, in line with Colorcon operating principles.
  • Ensure effective communication channels are maintained between PD, General Managers, Supply Chain, Quality, Operations and Technical teams.
  • Generates new ideas for PD that satisfy unmet needs of our customers, generates new ideas and evaluate new opportunities through basic feasibility of new ideas.
  • Drives Stage Gate Process to convert screening projects to development & launch.
  • Validates developmental new products by organizing voice of customer trials locally and globally.
  • Prioritizes activities in a fluid environment, ensuring that appropriate resources are allocated to the most important projects.
  • Close attention to trends internally as well as in the industry to establish unmet needs, technical challenges and coordinate justification and obtaining approval of related projects pipelines.
  • Maintains a sound working knowledge of current Colorcon products and competitive technologies.
  • Develops subject matter expertise in his/her area of specialization including a fundamental understanding of intellectual property in the area.
  • Leads & energizes Innovation activities within PD team.
  • Investigates developments of raw material and equipment manufacturers, anticipates new product requirements, and generates new product ideas accordingly.
  • Publishes and presents applications work supporting Colorcon’s products.
  • Provides high-level technical support & training to Colorcon technical staff globally & customers as required.
  • Promotes adherence to good laboratory practices (GLP), safety guidelines and accurate documentation of experiments and activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or M.S. in Pharmacy, Chemistry or related field (Ph.D. preferred)
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical technology, specifically formulation development and film coating of oral solid dosage forms, is required.
  • The position requires demonstrated project management ability, demonstrated creativity, excellent problem-solving skills, and strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

Working Location

  • This position is an onsite role based in Harleysville, PA.
  • Travel: up to 10% annual domestic & global travel may be required
