Job Description

Student Support Team Vision:

The KIPP New Orleans Student Support Team provides multi-disciplinary interventions, services, and support so that all students are on a path to college and career readiness, in pursuit of leading happy, healthy, and independent lives. We extend the mission of KIPP New Orleans Schools by ensuring every child has the school experience and future they deserve by meeting the unique needs of diverse learners.

Position Overview:

The Student Support Data and Compliance Manager is an exciting role for someone with a keen eye for data and systems, who loves creating efficiency, and who has a true commitment to creating conditions that advance equity for diverse learners. This role is responsible for working across PreK through 12th grades with all KIPP New Orleans schools, setting vision and goals and building systems to lead key priorities related to school attendance, culture, and Special Education while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, policies and reporting requirements. This role will work closely with the Directors of Special Education and Clinical Services to prepare for all external audits and data requests, as well as provide compliance support to school-based teams as needed. Additionally, the Manager of Data and Compliance will provide additional capacity to support purchasing and grant reporting for the Student Support Team. This role will report to the Managing Director of Student Support Services.

Your Core Responsibilities Include:

Attendance- 50%

  • Articulate a clear, compelling and comprehensive vision for PreK-12th grade student attendance as a key driver of school climate and health.
  • Develop KIPP New Orleans student attendance policies, plans, systems and data coherence to ensure consistent follow-through with families, supporting agencies and compliance requirements.
  • Provide professional development, and direct support to each school’s attendance lead.
  • Develop tools and analyze regional and school-level attendance trends; provide data roll-ups to school and regional team leaders.
  • Monitor all attendance outreach to be compliant with state, district and KIPP New Orleans policies, including accurate truancy referrals.
  • Collaborate & manage relationships with other stakeholders, community members, and regions to continuously refine attendance best practices.

Compliance Data - 40%

  • Review student and school-level culture data to analyze trends and ensure consistent compliance with discipline documentation requirements.
  • Review all Hearing Office referrals for compliance and alignment with regional policies, and maintain rosters of referral data.
  • Provide data roll-ups and analysis to school leaders and regional team members.
  • Support with all Special Education audits and external compliance requests.

Contracts and Purchasing Support - 10%

  • Provide support with Special Education budgeting, High-Cost Services grant applications and Student Services grant reporting.
  • Support execution of KNOS Contract Review process for contracted Student Support services.
  • Medicaid roster management and systems to support excellent billing and documentation processes.
  • Support execution of Student Support Team purchasing, including making purchase orders and working with the KIPP New Orleans Schools finance team to ensure compliance with all accounting policies.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively as a key member of the KIPP New Orleans regional Student Support Team.

Qualifications

The following are required of the role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, a graduate degree in education, law, or public policy preferred.
  • Set and meet ambitious goals with a proven track record of results in a prior school-based role.
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage time, and systems, and manage multiple projects and workstreams while maintaining poise and responsiveness.
  • Ability to build data systems and tools that meet school-user needs and provide clarity and accountability to key stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Excel and all Google Suite tools.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data for patterns, and key themes to drive decision-making.
  • Strong communication skills, especially experience communicating with school leaders, advocating for students, and building partnerships with families.
  • Belief in the potential of all students to succeed, with a personal commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners.
  • Close attention to detail coupled with the ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Experience with and strong knowledge of Federal law and policies, and Louisiana Bulletins regarding attendance, special education, and discipline.
  • Successful completion of State and Federal Criminal Background Check

  • Provide documentation of either 1) received a COVID-19 vaccination or 2) have requested, and been granted, reasonable accommodation from the KNOS Director of Human Resources to be exempted from the requirements of this policy

The following are strongly preferred for the role:

Prior experience in a school-based Student Support Team leadership role such as Special Education Coordinator, Dean of a Multi-Tiered System of Support, or Diverse Learners Instructional coach.

  • Must be able to sit and work at a desk/computer for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to spend the majority of the day standing or mobile throughout the classroom, as well as talk, hear, grasp, reach and lift up to 30lbs with or without accommodations
  • Ability to concentrate in active and noisy environments such as cafeterias and playgrounds, to more moderate situations such as classrooms or large group professional settings
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment
  • Ability to handle potential high-stress conditions
