The Manager of Enterprise Information Systems is responsible for the daily performance and availability of the organization’s enterprise applications infrastructure as defined in the departmental services portfolio. They are responsible for the activities of incident management, problem management, change management, and SLA management. The Manager of Enterprise Information Systems will analyze systems and recommend upgrades and changes, assess the organization’s current and future networked application and data storage needs, coordinate activities to ensure proper and timely completion of approved engineering changes, and act as representative of the IS Infrastructure Services team as a whole.

The Manager of Enterprise Information Systems resolves issues for customers and technical teams. They ensure employee and business issues are resolved in a satisfactory and timely manner consistent with all company polices and expectations. They are responsible for the quality and the timely completion of all team projects. They coordinate work requests, technical project and resource planning. They will act as the technical project lead by establishing project assignments, priorities, timeframes and milestones. Ensures project timeframes, milestones and objectives are attained.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and mitigates risk on new and existing programs within NLH IS governance. Leverages ITIL Change Management principles to protect the production environment from unapproved and untested changes
  • Works with Director of Infrastructure and Operations and peer managers to develop key performance indicators for the team, to report regularly and to manage within those parameters. Ensures adequate staffing and schedules local coverage to meet the organizations’ needs. Manages process for communicating outage and emergency activities to the organization
  • Engages with other Infrastructure Services leaders to promote process improvement and standardization. Assists Infrastructure Services leadership, including the Enterprise Infrastructure Architect, in the development of technology standards. Works with other NLH Infrastructure Services groups to coordinate installation and maintenance of various infrastructure hardware and software
  • Develops relationships with other managers, organizational leadership, medical staff, customers, and employees. Incorporates input from stakeholders during planning and implementation of service delivery changes, while ensuring system compliance with division, medical center and regulatory agency standards and requirements. Serves as role model to staff in dealing with conflict, providing effective communication and exhibiting professionalism
  • Recruits, orients, and supervises technical staff. Sets expectations, conducts performance appraisals, and takes corrective action when needed. Recognizes staff for worthy performance. Evaluates cross-training requirements and implements training programs as appropriate
  • Familiar with all applicable NLH and departmental policies and procedures and monitors user compliance in these areas. Maintains an active program of self-study and learning to enhance professional skills and to stay current with advances in software and technology
  • Communicates in a professional, positive and timely manner in person, on the phone, and via electronic means. Represents the department and company in a positive and professional manner. Executes project-related tasks
  • Familiar with all applicable NLH and departmental policies and procedures and monitors compliance in these areas. Maintains an active program of self-study and learning to enhance professional skills and to stay current with advances in software and technology
  • Adheres to all NLH and departmental policies and procedures. Accurately follows documentation and checklists to ensure efficiency and consistency. Uses routine troubleshooting methodologies that provide efficient, effective resolution and minimize impact to the customer. Maintains detailed and accurate records in workload management, asset management and administrative applications. Adheres to deadlines
  • Works conscientiously to minimize cost and time requirements in all areas of departmental responsibility

Required Qualifications:

  • Current ITIL v3 Foundation certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Current MCSE or ability to obtain within 18 months
  • Current Project+ or PMP Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year
  • 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise-level IT operations and services
  • 5+ years of experience managing technical staff, including a 24x7 infrastructure and operations staff
  • Demonstrated experience managing the lifecycle, maintenance, and upgrades of those technologies
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise-grade technologies, including servers, storage, networks, and infrastructure and application software
  • Ability to travel 10% when required

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment; a willingness to learn new skills and take direction from other team members; the ability to organize information and manage time efficiently
  • Demonstrated high proficiency at work- and people-management: Day to day scheduling, work assignment, routine reporting, and performance management
  • Proven solid leadership skills, as well as a comprehensive and in-depth infrastructure background with solid understanding of infrastructure services standards and methodologies
