Maintenance Manager – Maine

Acadian Seaplants Limited has an immediate requirement for a Maintenance Manager based in Maine.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance of harvester equipment, including rakes, boats (MH, harvest boats and tender boats), motors, etc. to ensure smooth ongoing operations with little or no downtime due to equipment issues.

Your Role:

Working closely with the Director Maine Operations, you will:

  • Ensure all harvesting equipment is ready for the start of the harvest season. This includes all boats, motors, platforms and harvesting equipment.
  • Implement programs and procedures required to ensure adequate spare parts are available to ensure maximum harvest time and reduce downtime due to break downs.
  • Repair existing harvester and mechanical harvester equipment/boats. This could include, but is not limited to, sanding, painting, fiber glassing, and general boat maintenance.
  • Build and repair harvest vessels as required and according to specifications.
  • Repair and maintain harvest platforms and platform power units.
  • Ensure regular maintenance and annual servicing of outboard motors and boat trailers.
  • Implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance plan to prevent mechanical breakdowns and downtime.
  • Support the company’s vision and policies regarding Health & Safety, Corporate Culture, Environmental Management and the Progressive Excellence Program by displaying the appropriate behaviors and leadership towards meeting the company’s objectives in these areas.

Requirements and Experience:

  • Possess extensive mechanical knowledge of both gasoline outboard engines, and diesel marine engines
  • Have experience with fiber glassing and boat working.
  • Welding/fabrication would be a strong plus.
  • Ability to hire qualified staff; train/manage staff and foster strong teamwork environment
  • Ability to represent the best interests of the company to ensure quality, safety and efficiency in all aspects of the harvest operation.
