WELDER FABRICATOR/MAINTENANCE LEAD

Job purpose
- Directs and coordinates activities of vendors and workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment; and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of the industrial plant, or other establishment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manages maintenance work requests from production floor, determines priority and assigns a technician.
- Ensures team members comply with all safety and good Manufacturing Practices.
- Communicates to production and quality assurance equipment break downs and estimated time needed to complete repairs
- Confers with vendors, management, engineering and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
- Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery.
- Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications.
- Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
- Assist with maintenance of manufacturing equipment using Welding tools and power tools.
- Assist with installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshoot, and modify equipment and machinery when needed.
- Assists other mechanics and electricians as needed.
- Routinely check the performance of mechanical equipment.
- Ensure a clean and safe work area. Must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
- Perform other tasks and duties as may be assigned to keep production moving.
Qualifications & Required Skills
- Must be a Team player with a positive attitude.
- Dependability and able to work independently.
- General Math Skills.
- Knowledge of general manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery.
- Must demonstrate Safe Working Habits.
Education
- A High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

- This position reports to the Facility Manager.
