COMPANY

Mercury Paper is a tissue converting company with affiliated plant and warehouses in Virginia. Since 2010, we have steadily grown in the away from home (AFH), retail private label (PL) and retail branded (FIORA) sales channels.

DEPARTMENT

The Production Department is responsible for turning raw materials into finished goods through a series of efficient processes and procedures. The department consists of various levels of machine operators, who run the machines for maximum output and forklift operators, who feed the raw material to the machines and move the finished goods to the warehouse. The team leads supervise the operators on shift.

JOB PURPOSE

To achieve production output targets in an efficient and safe manner while maintaining quality levels in line with Company standards and Customer requirements by operating, maintaining, trouble-shooting, monitoring and cleaning highly-automated, state of the art technology paper converting equipment. Supports the Line Lead at the winder and operates other machines/equipment, as needed. Also to ensure maximum operational time for machine output is obtained.

KEY ROLES

· Reports to Line Leader

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Preps 2 ton parent rolls by removing outer layers, processes material returns as required.

· Utilizes computer to set up equipment and troubleshoot.

· Assists with web breaks, auto/manual splice sequence, and equipment speed.

· Clears jams, change perf and anvil blades as needed.

· Sets up lamination.

· Possess ability to operate the winder, wrapper and case-packer and help or perform grade change.

· Be flexible-flow to issues, cover breaks, fill in for vacancies, and rotate from position to position as required.

· Possess ability to troubleshoot all equipment and systems.

· Run machines at Centerline specifications.

· Complete all safety, quality and mechanical breakdown prevention checks as required.

· Possess detailed knowledge of all SKU’s.

· Possess a working knowledge of all systems.

· Participate in production department and mill meetings.

· Perform mechanical adjustments for correct operation of machinery.

· Participate in changeovers and PMs when required.

· Ensure all process nuisances and equipment issues are identified.

· Work as a team player.

· Actively seek skills training and feedback.

· Report sub-standard issues to the Line leader.

· Operates overhead crane that positions 2 ton parent rolls on unwinder/winder.

· Operates core machine.

· Ensure finished product meets all quality specifications.

· Ensure applicable quality checks are completed as required.

· Be flexible-flow to issues, cover breaks, fill in for vacancies, and rotate from position to position as required.

· Inspect condition of the line at beginning, middle and end of shift, to ensure safe and efficient operation.

· Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education & Knowledge

· High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

· Technical experience with machine operation in a manufacturing environment.

Skills & Abilities

· Demonstrate proficiency in reading/writing English.

· Good written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to operate and understand principles of machinery.

· Tissue / paper conversion or industry experience is a plus.

· Basic computer skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is required to work in a dusty environment, with noise levels up to 90 dB.

This positon needs to safely lift up to 70 lbs. as needed, lifting and twisting up to 100 times in a 12 hr. period if needed such as repacking on a converting line.

· Must be able to sit, bend, climb stairs, stand and walk during scheduled shift.

· Must be able to work 12 hr. shifts and rotations.

· Must be flexible and responsive to the needs of the department/business.

· Must wear PPE per company regulations.
