Job description

Licensed Mental Health Counselor is responsible for the provision of mental health counseling services including discharge planning to patients and/or families.

Duties & Responsibilities

Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff to design and implement appropriate treatment plans, including discharge plans. Provides social services to patients within the jails Provides professional counseling and therapeutic intervention to patients and/or families utilizing treatment modalities appropriate to work with adults and their families. Collaborates with community agencies which provide services for adults and their families. Leads or co-lead patients groups as needed. Supports and maintains existing standards of the Public Health Trust, the Department and the Profession. Submits statistical reports as required. Participates in orientation and training of social work and interdisciplinary staff. Participates on research projects as required for program planning and evaluation. Maintains current knowledge in social work practices. Participates in Committees as assigned. Supervises students. Maintains current knowledge of social work practice including specific knowledge of the bio-psychosocial issues of adults. Provides coverage as assigned. Participates in hospital, departmental and unit meetings. Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list. Utilizes job and unit specific equipment as required. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Education

Master's degree in related field is required.

Experience

Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.

License/Certification

Valid Florida licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.

Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the nursing area.

Pay: $14.08 - $66.84 per hour
