LOCATION: Herberger Center – Phoenix
STATUS: FT 40 hrs./wk. – Flex Schedule

We are looking for a candidate who can represent The Salvation Army within the veteran community and oversee our budding work with veteran’s services. A successful candidate must be polished, articulate, and passionate about helping veterans overcome obstacles. The Salvation Army is looking to grow our impact on the veteran community, and we need to right candidate to take our services to the next level. This position will include both desk work, hands-on service, case management and community networking. Successful candidates will have military experience or a deep understanding of veteran-related culture. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s in Social Work or a related field (experience is acceptable in lieu of education)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests.
- Customer and Personal Service -- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing case-managed services. This includes individual/family needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of individual/family satisfaction.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
- Experience working with veterans or military personnel.
- Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clientele, and others including the public.
- Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
- Ability to create unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.
- Experience with case management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Computer literate in MS Office products.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Must have a valid Arizona DL with a clean driving record. & pass The Salvation Army Fleet Safety eLearning.
- Must have a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the position (occasional weekend or after 5pm).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work withing existing programs to find how we can better serve veterans.
- Increase outreach services to veterans.
- Network and collaborate with other veterans’ organizations.
- Work to develop community partners so that we gain greater community support.
- Schedule events, programs, activities, and volunteer groups to increase our community impact.
- Developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products.
- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to assess problems and problem solve solutions.
- Maintains statistical data for reporting purposes.
- Reports and documents all incidents and accidents immediately per established procedures.
- Develop programs for veterans including programs designed for veterans who have experienced emotional and physical trauma.
- Provide case management for those experiencing homelessness or other difficult life situations.
- Engage with long-term change programs such as Pathway of Hope and the Adult Rehabilitation Center
- Coordinate with staff to document progress for participating individuals.
- Assure that complete, accurate and timely data entry is made into the HMIS system.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of community agencies and procedures.
- Assist veterans to identify mainstream needs and facilitate the process with appropriate service providers to meet those needs.
- Conduct outreach activities, including visits to facilities such as shelters, treatment programs, soup kitchens and other locations where homeless and at-risk families may congregate.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
- Participate in the Phoenix Family Services supervisor team including being the supervisor on-call as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned as they relate to the position.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
