Job Summary
Eastern Washington University School of Psychology invites applications for a Lecturer in the Ed.S. School Psychology Program, to begin September 2023. This lecturer position is a full-time, one-year appointment, and eligible for renewal for successive annual appointments dependent on performance, need, and funding. The position includes online teaching responsibilities, curricular development, and program committee and department meeting participation. This position requires candidates to be located or willing to relocate to the greater Spokane-Cheney area.
EWU’s School of Psychology is committed to the selection, training, supervision, and professional success of students in our various programs and in the Educational Specialist School Psychology degree, in keeping with the high standards established by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). The program offers a structured sequence of curricular and applied experiences with an emphasis on closely supervised training experiences both at the University and in field sites.

Program faculty members have established strong relationships with area local and state-wide agencies, and students engage in meaningful practica and internship experiences across their time in the program. School psychology training occurs in a learning community that is intentionally focused on both knowledge development and skill application through on-site application in school districts. In this way, the program fulfills its purpose of preparing diverse, competent, and caring professionals to meet the needs of diverse urban and rural communities. The selected candidate will join a committed and enthusiastic Psychology faculty.

Summary of Responsibilities:
The current position includes primary responsibilities for teaching in both tracks (hybrid and online) of the EdS School Psychology Program, with additional support of other School of Psychology needs (e.g., undergraduate psychology courses). Teaching modalities will include face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Opportunities for summer teaching, although not required, may be available.
  • Teach 45 credits per academic year, subject to School needs, primarily online with quarterly on-sites on the Cheney, WA campus. Teach courses in this program such as, Counseling Theories and School-based Mental Health Interventions, Psychoeducational Groups, Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Assessment, provide Practicum and Internship supervision, and/or other courses that fulfill the need of the School of Psychology and Program.
  • Participate in program committee meetings bi-weekly and school meetings weekly.
  • Collect, retain, and disseminate course and program data for accrediting bodies and to maintain professional standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in utilization of creativity and best practice knowledge in curriculum development, classroom instruction, and student supervision.

The Ed.S. School Psychology Respecialization Program Online is a distance-learning hybrid program offered primarily online with synchronous and asynchronous delivery and in-person training requirements.

Per program requirements, only seasoned educators, counselors, and mental health professionals with substantial professional experience in an education setting or within their respective fields are eligible for the program.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Education or Psychology and eligible for Certification/Licensure in School Psychology
  • Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of core courses in School Psychology such as Counseling Theories and School-based Mental Health Interventions, Psychoeducational Groups, Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Assessment, and Professional School Psychology courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise student practicum, internship, and portfolio requirements, and advise graduate students.
  • Experience working with school districts and in professional settings as a school psychologist
  • A high degree of interest in human and cultural diversity, social justice and experiential and community-based education.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who also offer one or more of the following:
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. or ABD in Education or School Psychology.
  • National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP)
  • PREPaRE Certified Trainer
  • Demonstrated ability to teach in an online format using synchronous and asynchronous components.
  • Experience teaching university or college undergraduate and graduate level Psychology courses
