Elizabethtown College is seeking applicants for the position of
Lecturer in the Education Program. This is a fulltime, 9-month position, beginning July 2023. Elizabethtown College offers a variety of teacher certifications including a BS degree in Early Childhood Education with a certification in Special Education and a master’s degree on Special Education. Job Duties
Responsibilities include teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, primarily in Special Education, in both face-to-face and online modalities. Courses included in the program meet the PA Department of Education’s Special Education certification requirements. A few examples of courses include an Introductory Special Education course, High Incidence Disabilities, Low Incidence Disabilities, Effective Instruction for Students with ASD and/or EBD, and Critical Issues in Special Education. The successful candidate will also be required to advise and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels and support student scholarship by mentoring students through their research projects. The position requires collaboration with faculty on programmatic initiatives in Special Education, including program assessment and curriculum development, as well as, engagement in service to the program, the college, and the community.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of teaching experience in the role of special education teacher in public or private schools within the U.S.
- Masters Degree in Special Education
- Special Education certification (current or expired) within the United States
- Candidate should exhibit ability to use technologies in their teaching in ways that maximize
student learning. Demonstrated competence in multiple teaching modalities (in-person, hybrid, and online) is preferred.
- The candidate is expected to contribute to an environment that supports diversity, collegiality, teamwork, and inclusive teaching approaches.

Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree preferred
- Evidence of high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level and experience supervising student teachers
- Demonstrated experience in culturally responsive teaching practices, trauma informed practices, and/or teaching students with complex support needs.
