This leadership position will include working at the various clinics in the north metro area. Mileage is included depending on location. This position does not have direct reports but will be responsible for: training of staff, performing competencies, implementing process improvement ideas, listening to staff and removing obstacles, maintaining laboratory records, maintaining proficiency testing records and assignments, supporting and communication with leadership, performing testing and phlebotomy. Must be a team player, adaptable, comfortable with learning new processes, computer applications and a passion for helping patients and their families.
This lead role will work with the supervisor for the following M Health Clinic Locations: Andover, Bass Lake, Brooklyn Park, Elk River, Fridley, and Rogers.

M Health Fairview is looking for a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (Lead MLS/MT) based at M Health Fairview Clinic - Brooklyn Park. This is a fulltime position, with no weekends!

Responsibilities/Job Description:
The Lead (MLS/MT) functions independently in performing all major work responsibilities of professional laboratory practice. This position performs a wide variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic testing, and acts as a resource for problem resolution and interpretation of results. May be responsible for method development research, instrument correlation, and method validation at multiple clinic labs, as needed. Correlates data based on clinical knowledge, technical expertise, and other conditions affecting test results. Participates in laboratory performance improvement activities and works with the clinic site leadership to improve clinic workflows. Collaborates with the customers of the laboratory to promote appropriate use of laboratory resources. In the absence of a supervisor/manager, a Lead MLS/MT may direct work flow in the daily operation of a laboratory section and provide direction and problem solving skills for laboratory functions. May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution. Qualified to work in a highly complex laboratory as mandated in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA).
- 2 years' experience
- Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) approved laboratory certification such as ASCP or AMT.
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in an ambulatory or acute hospital environment.
