RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the maintenance of an extensive irrigation system on a 125-acre luxury retirement community in Atlantic Beach, Florida. Job scope includes accurate record keeping, promoting job worksite safety, providing excellent customer service while exhibiting quality workmanship. This position also includes onsite staffing and additional resourcing to assist with any needs related to large irrigation repairs and installation. This position typically works in an independent capacity and the scheduled work week is Monday through Friday 7:00 AM-3:00 PM. Occasional after hours or weekend service will be required.
- Routine inspection of all irrigation zones, troubleshoot, and repair problems.
- Water feature trouble shooting and maintenance.
- Strong working knowledge of irrigation installations.
- Digging, raking, and debris removal.
- Strong working knowledge to troubleshoot and replace irrigation timers, and other electrical issues.
- Strong working knowledge locating control valves visually, and or using a wire locater.
- Strong working knowledge of testing and operating backflows.
- Strong working knowledge and practical application of operating trenchers.
- Ability to move, lift up to 50 lbs., walk, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Strong working knowledge and ability to operate heavy equipment.
- Strong working knowledge of repairing main lines, lateral lines, and low volume lines.
- Strong working knowledge to adjust spray and rotary heads.
- Strong working knowledge to relocate, repair or replace irrigation heads.
- Strong working knowledge of valve repairs, and replacement.
- Strong working knowledge of irrigation controller installation and replacement.
- Ability to positively represent the community by interacting with community residents and colleagues in a polite and professional manner.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and electronically.
- Ability to adhere to uniform requirements. Uniforms will be provided but safety steel toed work boots are the responsibility of the employee.
- Ability to maintain a clean work site, and an orderly stocked storage area.
- Ability to adhere to all safety measures (PPE tools), and to promote a strong safety culture.
- Ability to safely operate power and manual tools.
- Maintain and care for campus tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Ability to track material and labor cost, and to provide daily reports to department manager.
- Ability to identify cost savings, and more efficient way to complete tasks.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
A High School Diploma and a minimum of three years of commercial irrigation maintenance and installation experience required.
All work will be completed at Fleet Landing Atlantic Beach, Florida. Fleet Landing is a Continual Care Retirement Community that includes both Independent and Assisted Living, Health and Wellness Facilities, Community Amenities, Athletic Features, Restaurants, and common elements.

Possesses a genuine interest in caring for and serving older adults while participating as a team player. Must be able to work cooperatively with others. Interactions with Residents, visitors, and co-workers must be positive and respectful. Must be able to read and understand English, especially printed irrigation and landscape plans.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sits, digs, stands, walks, stoops, and bends most of the day. Performs light physical work, exerting up to 30 pounds of force on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Exposure to changing weather conditions. Uses commercial grade glue solvents and cleaners.
