Essential Responsibilities:

  • Cuts lawns using hand mower or power mower.
  • Trims and edges around walks, flower beds and walls, using clippers, weed cutters and edging tools.
  • Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches or twigs, using shears, pruners or chain saw.
  • Sprays lawn, shrubs and trees with fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides, using hand or automatic sprayer.
  • Rakes and bags leaves, or prepares them for incineration.
  • Cleans ground and removes litter using spiked stick or broom.
  • Shovels snow from walks and driveways.
  • Spreads salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
  • Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs.
  • Waters lawn and shrubs.
  • Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mowers and irrigation systems.
  • Removes trash from the exterior of building.
  • May repair fences and gates, walls, walks, etc.
  • May paint fences and outbuildings.
  • May clean out drainage ditches and culverts.
  • May perform ground maintenance duties using tractor equipped with attachments such as mowers, lime or fertilizer spreaders, lawn rollers and snow removal equipment.
  • May sharpen tools.
  • Reports to work for scheduled shift, on time and in uniform in accordance with company policy.
  • Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.
  • Takes the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Current Driver’s License required.

Hours:

  • Position requires flexibility to work adjusted schedule, including nights and weekends as needed. Responsible for responding to emergencies as necessary, requiring the possibility of response times occurring on nights and/or weekends.

Physical Requirements of the Position:

  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Activity of the Position:

  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking/pinching with fingers, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motion.

Visual Acuity Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • May require occasional work in close quarters, crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia.
  • May be required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
