The general purpose of the Laboratory Assistant is to assist the operations team with daily duties, perform on-site logistics with customers and assist with any general needs of the laboratory.
- Composing emails to customers for reminders (Weekly)
- Making calls to customers about reminders or missing documentation (Daily)
- Creating work orders for on-site calibrations (Daily)
- Helping customers with questions and scheduling calibration (Daily)
- QC pipettes in the morning (Daily)
- Scheduling Pipettes for calibration via Email or Phone (Weekly)
- Customer service relations (Daily)
- Customer service liaison to New England Biolabs, which requires working with their logistics department to facilitate getting their pipettes calibrated each month. This requires a trip to Ipswich MA 4 times/month
- On an as needed basis
- Answering and directing calls
- Wrap instruments for transportation
- Maintaining backup records with local server for off-site storage
- Perform on-site logistics for calibration customers
- Emailing Electronic certificates to customers
- Other duties as assigned
- Clean driving record
- Must demonstrate computer skills/be willing to learn new database
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, advanced science degree helpful, but not required
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
