Summary/Objective
API is seeking a product professional to join our company in the role(s) of Junior Product Owner. The position will be based in our headquarters office located in Melville, New York.

Our flagship ACES product is a fully featured product that covers the entire Crew Layover management process from Planning, through Day of Ops to Billing and reconciliation. It is a sophisticated rules-based platform that provides Airline, Hotel, Operations, Accounting, Analytics and Reporting functionality.

The essential responsibilities of the Product Owner include ‘owning’ a part of the product in terms of product vision, direction and strategy. This will be informed by working with the ACES Product Manager, our clients and partners, and internal customers, to understand the market requirement and to translate and evolve that requirement into a product requirement. This includes being responsible for the understanding, definition and story production for the requirements, prioritizing and managing the story backlog, attending the daily standups to provide color and guidance, and ultimately managing product lifecycle (Agile) and interacting with internal and external clients to ensure product is best in class. Experience with web applications is a plus. Must possess excellent organizational skills and communication skills.

· ‘Owns’ their part of the product portfolio and is the ‘expert’ in all aspects of its functionality.

· Represents the User/Customer in the product evolution process.

· Provides the complete ‘WHAT’ and ‘WHY’ to engineering, for new and amended features.

· Prioritizes, scopes and groups functional items for the specific product area to create value-based incremental release packages.

· Grooms and manages product backlog.

· Develops and maintains internal communication documents for the sales and support teams to communicate value of products to customers.

· Works with Marketing to develop external product marketing messaging, awareness, positioning, collateral and promotion to ensure alignment with key objectives and goals.

· Helps define ‘definition of done’ and validates delivered functionality.

· Works closely with Engineering, other product owners, product manager and internal stakeholders, as well as clients, to ensure productive delivery of functionality.

· Responsible for ‘Go’ decisions.

· Tracks ROI on initiatives; prepares analysis and presents findings, makes recommendation on ongoing marketing programs.

· Product Management skills including product vision and direction using an agile execution methodology. Responsible for backlog management, iteration planning and overall execution of product deliverables. Understanding knowledge of the market, the users and roadmap ownership

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time, Monday – Friday and as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • Product Management Certification
  • BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 1-2 Years experience in a related field
  • Experience working in Agile Methodologies
  • Experience with product management tools such as Jira, Trello
  • Industry specific experience preferred.
