SUMMARY

The Junior Information System Security Specialist will support U.S. Treasury’s information assurance program. Developing security metrics and measures and report progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with system owners and helpdesks to establish and ensure security policies are implemented
  • Coordinate and assist with conducting data spill cleanup and evidence preservation
  • Develop procedures, assist with classification review, and approve cross domain data transfers
  • Provide support to Treasury’s information assurance program.
  • Understand the federal risk management practices, NIST 800-53 standards, and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) of 2002
  • Have comprehensive understanding of federal security policies, standards, and day-day operations including emphasis with current security tools and encryption techniques.
  • Assist with analysis of FISMA metrics in relation to already gathered enterprise asset data
  • Coordinate risk impact levels for confidentiality, integrity, and availability of
  • the intelligence IT system with the AO and ISSM.
  • Provide IT technical solutions to complex problems for the Treasury

S&CI office

  • Coordinate and assist with conducting data spill cleanup and evidence

preservation

  • Develop procedures and approve cross domain data transfers
  • Work with system owners and helpdesks to establish and ensure security

policies are implemented

  • Develop security metrics and measures and report progress
  • Ensure ISSOs follow established intelligence IT system policies and

procedures

  • Report and correct security incidents, vulnerabilities, and deficiencies.
  • Performs oversight reviews to monitor program implementation and practices in those areas by lower echelons and other supported organizations.
  • Develops, communicates, and enforces security policies, procedures and safeguards for all systems and staff, based upon Data Center and other government standards.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory/management authority.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Top Secret/SCI clearance Required
  • High School Graduate required
  • At least three years’ experience supporting information assurance program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Track security metrics as developed by Program Manager
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal security policies, standards, and day-day operations including emphasis with current security tools and encryption techniques.
  • Assist with analysis of FISMA metrics in relation to already gathered enterprise asset data
  • Knowledge of federal risk management practices, NIST 800-53 standards, and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) of 2002
  • Working knowledge of implementing government security programs and policies.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, Critical thinking, Strategy Development, Balancing security requirements with mission needs, good judgment and business acumen and Relationship management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be performed in a climate office environment.

Cherokee Federal has suspended it’s COVID mandate.
