What is Project Orion?
Project Orion is the Board approved project to build a new, light-house warehouse operation in Europe. It will be the biggest such project in the company for the last 20 years & the largest Distribution facility in Europe.
The highly automated warehouse of around 55 000 m2, with a capacity of 55M units p.a will be a true pan-brand, Omni-channel warehouse that will deliver Apparel, Footwear & Accessories to Retail Stores, ECOM consumers and wholesale customers.
The Warehouse will be industry leading in sustainability, (LEED Platinum & WELL certified) and lives up to LS & Co’s commitment to a better future. This greenfield new facility will be based in Dorsten, Germany

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
STRATEGY:
- Responsible for managing all aspects of assigned logistics-related IT projects (at times with assistance) – full life-cycle (planning and requirements through construction, testing and implementation – per LS & Co. IT standards for project management and project governance check-point processes)
- Obtains and sometimes determines, staffing requirements to form the project team with internal and external vendor resources
- Develops detailed project plans, schedules and actively manages project financials using established standards and tools.
- Provides work direction and leadership to assigned project teams, including scheduling, assignment of work and review of project efforts
OPERATIONS & DELIVERY:
- Proactively monitors the project plan (milestones and critical path dates), identifying and resolving issues and assessing variances.
- Gathers metrics and develops and implements changes (per standard approval processes) to ensure that the project remains within scope, and is within time, cost and quality objectives.
- Provides the team with constructive feedback as it pertains to project performance.
EXPERIENCE:
- min. 2 years of experience in an IT project management role or in the area of Logistics projects with focus on IT
- Project experience preferably in Logistics technology/software (e.g. Manhattan WMS) and warehouse automation
- Experience leading process development and implementation
- Knowledge of Project Management principles and IT project life-cycle methodologies
EDUCATION & SKILLS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics or SCM with focus on IT or equivalent years of work experience
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.) preferred
SKILLS:
- Fluency in German and English (at least equivalent to B2)
- Self-motivated individual that possesses a high level of integrity, honesty, personal accountability
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems)
- Excellent communication skills in the new world of remote & on-line working and highly collaborative with the ability to influence across the matrix and to build connections to enable success
- Proven skill developing project proposal and business cases in support of system initiatives
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work with a wide range of individuals and hierarchical chains in an international environment
