International Logistics Director
Job description
The International Logistics Director will be responsible for managing the daily operations related to International Logistics for US and Mexico exportation to LATAM and APAC which includes the movement and management of both finished goods and raw materials. To ensure compliance of all import and export freight movement ad shipments. This position requires an individual to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize their workload with the ever-changing demands. The International Logistics Director is also responsible for managing their team and cultivate that talent through teaching, coaching and development.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance of freight forwarder logistic providers and implement improvements as needed
- Work with vendors to identify and eliminate logistics obstacles to ensure safe and timely shipping and delivery of goods
- Monitor and establish key performance metrics to ensure supply chain costs are in line with goals
- Build and maintain business relationships internally and externally to improve overall supply chain flow and drive process improvements
- Ensure that quality of service and customer satisfaction are being met
- Negotiate sea, over the road and air freight rates with forwarders and/or carriers; Work with carriers to ensure data integrity and accuracy
- Assist in managing shipment and custom activities for imports/export services
- Develop the management process to ensure timely deliveries and in compliance with all import/export regulations including country of origin, HTS and product specific certification
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures by country which should include full end to end process, documentation needed for delivery of goods, cadence of communication with internal parties as to status of all shipments
- Collaborate with IT to outline business requirements and process improvements within SAP and/or TMS system
- Ability to manage the pressures and stress associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere and customer service issues
- Establish/Improve process for proper auditing of freight and customs invoices
- Work independently and have excellent time management skills
- Ensure internal business partners receive and understand reporting and provide them with regular reporting cadence
- Utilize SAP and TMS system
- Manage freight lane data within TMS system
- Lead process for setting up new lanes in TMS as needed
- Address internal and external customer issues
- Analyze data and design new deployment models as needed
- Based on data analysis, work with management to optimize carrier selection, lanes, and call out data that does not align with current SOP’s.
- Administer annual business reviews internally and with freight forwarders
- Supervise, coach and train the international logistics team
Position Requirements:
- A least 8-10 years’ experience in the field of international logistics or transportation operations
- Strong, collaborative partner to internal and external parties
- Proven working experience as an international logistics manager
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
- Demonstrate ability to lead and manage staff
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- SAP experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow standard operation procedures with little to no oversight
- Be a team player and enjoys working in a team environment but complete their own deliverables on a daily basis
- Reliable and willing to learn
- Must be able to understand issues and help create solutions
- Superior attention to detail
- Positive attitude, self-motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- BS in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain preferred
- Experience with a TMS implementation preferred
- Advanced analytical skills preferred
Pay Range =$90,000 - $132,995
