This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a part-time Internal Communications Lead for our Los Angeles, CA office. This role will be involved in the Los Angeles Metro Strategic Plan with our US Advisory Services Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Serve as a lead for communications on large transportation program
  • Implement effective communication strategies for high profile projects
  • Develop strategic involvement plans
  • Take initiative and ownership of tasks and guide the project team and subconsultants to develop effective strategies to solicit feedback and input from the public
  • Prepare talking points, multi-media presentations, newsletters, public exhibits, display boards, meeting summaries and documentation
  • Work closely with client to ensure communications alignment with agency
  • Attend virtual and in-person external project, agency, and community meetings to provide public involvement updates and identify public involvement issues
  • Produce and maintain stakeholder databases and lead stakeholder issues identification
  • Interact in a clear and concise manner with a variety of diverse audiences
  • Develop and expand client relationships and business development efforts
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by WSP USA Inc. and our clients

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in communications/marketing/public involvement
  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field
  • Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and new design projects.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all organizational levels, including agency staff, senior management, executive leadership, board members, community leaders, and city/county/state representatives
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, regulators, and company-wide staff
  • Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Experience working with public agencies
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and interdependently
  • Strong time management skills and high attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Proficiency in Adobe In-Design and Photoshop
  • Experience working for/with WSP client organizations and in the infrastructure consulting industry
  • Experience planning and participating in pursuits, proposal preparation, and interviews for projects
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Compensation and Benefits:
WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.

Expected Salary: $65 - $70 per hour
