Job Title: Integration Engineer, Expert (Senior Health Data and Interoperability Engineer)

Duration: 12+ Months Contract

Location: 100% Remote

Activities:

Support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO) program as a Senior Health Data and Interoperability Engineer.

Support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program as an integration engineer expert for the Office of Deputy Chief Information Officer (ODCIO) Data and Interoperability Pillar to coordinate cross-disciplinary team and project efforts for ensuring integrations, compatibility, healthcare semantics, informatics, and usability across multiple platforms, as required for the full EHR modernization effort, are met.

This role will be focused on the use of Identity Systems (e.g., VA’s MVI, SSO; DOD’s DMDC, DEERS) and their use to support mission critical systems. Ability to evaluate systems to ensure guaranteed

support of healthcare applications. Serve as a SME for VA and DOD Identity regulations and guidelines.

The candidate will:

Conduct reviews of system engineering designs, architecture, and integration patterns for current/future state planning to ensure in compliance with Federal and Departmental regulations and standards to achieve EHRM-IO’s mission.

Collaborate with system integrator and provide expertise to ensure the data and interoperability solutions, to include data migration/syndication, identity and access management, external data exchange platforms and analytics/reporting solution designs and development efforts meet VA requirements.

Facilitate technical meetings with customer, stakeholders, and vendors, write executive-level technical summaries and deliver presentations in support of Data and Interoperability projects for VA enterprise and Joint VA/DOD planning and implementation needs for EHRM-IO ODCIO.

Coordinate across DoD, FEHRM, EHRM-IO and VA to proper coordination and planning of jointly managed technical integrations

Evaluate alternative components for and makes recommendations about the Data and Interoperability solution architecture

Research solution architecture, technical design tools, and technology stack for data exchange infrastructure, develop data exchange strategy and architecture that encompasses patient identity, data standards, applications, infrastructure, and services, and conduct gap analysis of infrastructure and architecture

Be able to comprehend and integrate technical, management, and policy issues into client solutions and lead small working groups

Have experience with systems engineering technical principles, including requirements development and functional analysis

Provide technical feedback to program plans and schedules to ensure that timelines, risks, and design have the appropriate level of detail, validity and abide by commercial best practices

Assess and make recommendations for mitigating technical risks and issues

Have experience with presenting technical solutions to senior-level executives

Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

Requirements/Minimum qualifications:

15+ years of professional work experience

Need to have VA Identity and Access Management (IAM) System Knowledge/experience and experience with VA and DoD legacy health data, specifically, patient identity/matching.

Be able to create strategies and plans for integration of multiple IT systems/subsystems into an operational unit, ensuring full functional and performance capabilities are retained

Able to coordinate with development and user teams to assess risks, goals and needs and ensure that all are adequately addressed

Experienced in introducing new hardware or software into a new or existing environment while minimizing disruption and mitigating risks.

Able to be cost conscience as well addressing goals

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in the VA

Experience implementing Electronic Health Records

Experience with VA and DoD legacy health data, inter-agency/private sector health data sharing/exchange, patient identity/matching requirements for health data exchange

Experience managing core technical aspects of IT related projects

Experience with large scale, enterprise systems integration/interface, data migration, cloud computing and site EHR cut-over/deployments

Experience with scalability analysis and modeling

Experience with system (end-to-end) performance assessment and optimization

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
