DEPARTMENT: Engineering
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4pm
Position Summary
The Inspector ensures work performed by District contractors is completed and according to plans and specification of the District. This position also completes associated mapping and project paperwork. Additionally, this position contributes to regulatory compliance and efficient operations of the District.
Essential Functions

  • Inspects contractor installation of water mains, services, hydrants, and valve are installed correctly and to specification.
  • Perform flushing on newly installed mains to ensure compliance with lab standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform locating of underground infrastructure and complete work order.
  • Maintain all appropriate project reports and map new construction for District’s records.
  • Work with Engineering to prepare and approve contractor pay requests.
  • Oversees proper utilization of inventory.
  • Ensures compliance of company policies, including but not limited to safety concerns and incident reporting.

Required Education and Experience
  • High School degree; some college level or technical certification preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience related to construction, mechanical or project management.
Licensing/Certifications:
  • Valid Driver’s License
Additional Skills
  • Basic knowledge of and have the ability to learn intimate details of the water system to understand how various components interact with each other.
  • Ability to work with unique problems and communicate with customers.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position is exposed to all climates. It spends time in the field to monitor ongoing projects; however, may require physical or manual labor. Works with field related equipment, computer, copy machine, fax, and phones. The position requires auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. There is no regular travel expected for this position.
