JOB DESCRIPTION
Under direction, is responsible for the information security management program to include planning and developing the District’s IT business impact analysis (BIA) and disaster recovery plan, and managing information security operations; performs other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Advises management on security strategy and enterprise risk management plans; measures security program performance and makes recommendations on the adoption and application of security controls;
  • Develops, implements, and maintains security controls, processes, and procedures to manage risk across all information system environments (infrastructure, network, and applications) with the assistance of the application and infrastructure management teams;
  • Works with the Network Manager to monitor the security operations of the District’s IT network;
  • Establishes and maintains a security risk governance framework; publishes and disseminates security policies, standards, and supporting materials to reduce risk through security awareness with the assistance of the Director of Technology;
  • Implements, tests, and monitors policies and procedures for the disaster recovery plan for the internal and managed IT environments and applications;
  • Works with the application and infrastructure teams to monitor security threats, respond to incidents, and limit exposure to information systems;
  • Ensures compliance with security requirements of laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Maintains awareness of changes in the regulatory landscape and their relevance to the security of information systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree with significant coursework (sixteen (16) semester hours or twenty-four (24) quarter hours) in computer science, information systems management, information systems security, mathematics, engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Substitution(s): Possession of valid certification as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or comparable professional certification in information systems security may substitute for the significant coursework in the fields listed above.
  • Three (3) years of IT security experience.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Tools/Equipment Use: Desktop PC with keyboard and mouse, laptop, scanner, calculator, software, desk, and adjustable chair.

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting.

Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 10 pounds)

Environment: Works in office setting; may require occasional irregular hours and/or prolonged hours.

Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.

Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
