The Information Security Technician completes tasks designed to ensure security of the organization's systems and information assets. This technician monitors against unauthorized access, modification or destruction of critical information systems. The Information Security Technician works with end-users to determine needs of individual departments, implements policies or procedures and tracks compliance through the organization. This technician has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the information security field.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Configure authentication and access control settings for company applications and cloud systems.
- Work with IT to trouble shoot authentication and access issues.
- Audit permissions and access rights using assigned security and/or 3rd party tools.
- Audit end user use, access agreements or requests pertaining but not limited to remote access, security files, onboarding, offboarding/terminations, and transfers.
- Work with Information Security Admins and Analyst to research and recommend security enhancements to management.
- As directed, support incident responses and investigations, reporting findings and actions taken to management.
- Support information security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
- Investigate and prepare reports that document security incidents and other related items.
- Communicate information security best practices to end-users, including reasons for problems, request or incident status or other relevant security information.
- Provide assistance, support, and training to end-users as required.
- Keep management informed of activities and of any significant problems or concerns. Provides suggestions for improved service.
- Responds to end-users’ requests promptly.
- Stay current on IT security technologies, trends, and news.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- CompTIA Security + or higher security related certification required.
- Two-year degree in Information Security or actively working towards a degree in Cybersecurity or Information Security strongly preferred.
