The role you’ll contribute:
The Imaging Support Coordinator, under general supervision, is responsible for maintaining, accessing and printing patient records assuring privacy by following HIPAA guidelines and ensuring images and necessary paperwork is available for Radiologists’ interpretation and then communicating the results for the Imaging System. The coordinator will synchronize with radiology staff, both clinical and non-clinical, to ensure patient exams are processed. Performs designated standard operating procedures during Cerner downtime. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

- Answers the phone using scripted greeting and follows customer service and phone etiquette guidelines. [Communication]
- Releases film/exams to patients and/or physician’s office utilizing proper sign out process. Prints patients’ records for release internally and externally always adhering to HIPAA and/or established guidelines. [Records]
- Documents received communication from technologists and any relayed communication from Radiologists to the appropriate area in Cerner
- Monitors the “Call Result” worklist in Cerner. Communicates results to providers.
- Work to Ensure that prior outside imaging studies are obtained for scheduled patients prior to scheduled appointments or within 15 days after appointment. Completes appropriate documentation.
- Research prior history of all scheduled patients.
- Ensure prior imaging has been digitized via PACS for comparison to the scheduled exam (with a minimum of 4 years of prior imaging if available).
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure a smooth operation of the department including downtime operation.
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 6 months experience working with computers
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to interact with Physicians, patients and customers
- Basic computer knowledge, including, spreadsheet program and email
- Skill in organizing and prioritizing of work, and following assignments through to completion
- Ability to communicate professionally with acceptable use of English and spelling
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Ability to work independently in most situations
- Ability to multi-task, using multiple computer applications
- Ability to answer multiple phone lines
- Ability to deal with high levels of stress periodically
- Knowledge of PACS to view and print orders
- Self-motivated
PREFERRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Associate’s degree with emphasis on computers
- One year of Radiology or Medical Office experience
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
- Computer experience in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of medical software application (example: PACS, Cerner)
- Ability to communicate in Spanish
- Medical terminology
