Salary Range:
$21.57 - $28.90 Hourly

DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to engage and assist homeless and near homeless individuals, families, and youth in services to end their homelessness. Specialists work with individuals and families daily and provide services to keep them housed or to rapidly rehouse them. Services include:
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assistance obtaining an Arizona ID, birth certificate or social security card
- Provision of basic necessities such as emergency shelter, food, water, toiletries and bus passes
- Connections to mental health resources and medical care
- Connections to employment resources and the city's Tempe Works jobs program
- Housing planning and navigation to secure permanent housing
- Coordinating heat relief services during intense summer months
Assisting individuals involved in Mental Health Court
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience:
Requires one (1) year of full-time experience conducting street outreach, case management, navigation, behavioral health support and/or substance abuse treatment working with individuals/families experiencing homelessness and/or other vulnerable populations. Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are preferred.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
Requires high school diploma, GED or equivalency. Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in social work and/or psychology is preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
- Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of application
- Fingerprint Clearance Card from State of Arizona within six (6) months of hire.

- Criminal history background investigation
- Post offer/pre-employment drug screen. Employees in safety-sensitive job classifications are prohibited from all marijuana usage whether medical or recreational
