POSITION SUMMARY
The HGH HIM Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the Medical Records Department to include medical records chart analysts and coders. Responsibilities include ensuring the department is HIPAA Compliant, as well as, Coding Compliant. HIM Manager will be responsible for coordinating all coding for inpatient, observation, outpatient ancillary services, clinics and emergency room department. HIM Manager will coordinate all medical records departmental operations, as well as, working closely with other hospital departments, medical staff and service providers. Interpret policies and procedures and recommend policy changes to the Revenue Cycle Director.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate of an approved course for Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Three years HIM Management experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: Accreditation by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a RHIT or RHIA or any equivalent combination of training and experience, preferably in the hospital setting, that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certified Coder in institutional and professional coding

Serves as facility privacy officer for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability ACT (HIPAA). Responsible for developing, maintaining and implementing privacy policy procedures and overseeing full compliance with privacy policies and procedures, privacy rules and applicable state laws.
