Job Summary
The Helpdesk Analyst is responsible for handling the day-to-day tasks the IT department oversees. These tasks include supporting incidents, helping users understand technologies Grayson Mill Energy uses daily, and supporting new and existing software. Responsibilities include coverage across all Grayson Mill functional teams, third party services, and assets.
The IT Helpdesk is a full-time, exempt role located in Houston, TX. This role will report to the Business Intelligence Manager.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Support corporate Windows users with common day-to-day problems and questions
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve helpdesk tickets; escalate support requests to higher tier support as needed
- Install and configure Operating System and applications on workstations
- Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management
- Troubleshoot common networking problems
- Onboarding and Offboarding of user accounts
- Produce specifications for new or upgraded computer systems
- Facilitate in adherence to company IT procedures, policies, and goals
- Interact regularly with other areas of the company to collaborate on execution of tasks
- Assist in the creation and documentation of data management standards, policies, and best practices
- Anticipate, recognize, report, and help resolve issues
- Provide technical guidance
- Occasional after-hours availability for planned outages and emergency situations
Qualifications and Skills
- Basic knowledge of the following:
- Windows OS
- O365 Administration
- MS Office Applications
- Windows Server
- Basic Networking
- File permission (NTFS)
- Active Directory
- Group Policy
- Backup/File Storage
- Application Administration
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in IT-related field or 4 years education
- Must have experience with Microsoft Windows, Office365, and Networking
- Oil and gas knowledge and experience preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure or AWS is a plus
- Knowledge of MS SQL server administration a plus
- Experience with Active Directory and Azure Active Directory a plus
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet reporting deadlines, and demonstrate flexibility with delivery of assignments
- Eagerness to tackle new or complex problems with the latest tools and technologies
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, consistently meets deadlines
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Ability to coordinate with departments within the organization and vendors outside the organization
- Interest in helping people and patience in supporting non-tech-savvy end users
- Knowledge and understanding of industry standards

- Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by department leadership
Education
- BS/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics or equivalent
- ITIL v3/4 certification a plus
