Heavy Equipment Operator
Job description
Principal Responsibilities
- Operates heavy equipment in a clean and efficient manner
- Experience in the following heavy equipment operation is ideal: Front End Loader, Motor Grader, Skid Steer, Truck Driving
- Ensures health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
- General knowledge of day-to-day construction operations
- Experience in snow removal
- Willingness to learn new procedures or tasks
- Assures unit is never operated in an unsafe manner
- Production driven
- Must be willing to maintain equipment in addition to other duties
- Follow good construction safety practices and following company code of ethics, policies and procedures
- Ability to read and understand grade stakes
- Able to measure, mark and record areas where work is to be performed and has been completed
- Weekly thorough completion and submittal of field logs and timesheets
- Strong mechanical aptitude, excellent communication skills, the ability to track, record and plan materials, be able to work safely and promote a safe work environment; comply with all DOT requirements
- Work in various weather and job location conditions
- Assist with other landscape/construction tasks as needed
Requirements/Qualifications * Prior experience working in the construction environment preferred
- Ability to read and layout plans, with grading being a key part
- Knowledge and proficient use of a transit to establish grades, footing heights, wall heights, etc.
- Basic math skills. Ability to calculate yardage, toneage, square feet, etc.
- Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment
- Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
- Ability to lift, bend, and climb routinely
Qualifications * 5+ years’ experience in machine and equipment operation
- Driver’s License
- Hoisting/Hydraulics License'
