POSITION SUMMARY:
Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group fitness classes, as directed by the supervisor.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living; maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Teaches at least one group fitness class per pay period, unless your supervisor states otherwise.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Group Fitness certification in an area of expertise preferred.
  • At least one year of experience teaching group fitness classes preferred.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with diverse populations, varying ages, knowledge and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to: bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, stand, lift up to 50lbs, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk and hear.
