"Seniors helping seniors" is at the heart of Mercy Brown Bag Program (MBBP), supported by Elder Care Alliance's Mercy Retirement and Care Center. For 40 years our volunteers have lovingly filled bags and distributed fresh produce, healthy grains, lean proteins and more.
We sort, pack, and distribute groceries to 66 sites throughout Alameda County. We also run mobile food pantries throughout the county, bringing variety and choice right to where seniors live and congregate.
About This Career Opportunity
The Brown Bag Grocery Store Clerk will play a key customer service role in serving approximately 700-1000 Brown Bag recipients visiting our store, usually twice a month, with dignity, respect, kindness and helpfulness.
The Brown Bag CommonSpirit Grocery Store Clerk is responsible for supporting Brown Bag efforts in the CommonSpirit Grocery Store, which has become a focal point in the Brown Bag distribution network to Alameda County senior recipients of our services. Clerk duties include checking in and serving Brown Bag clients, stocking the grocery store, and generally overseeing store operations on a day to day basis, in support of the Brown Bag Operations Manager. It is possible a grocery store clerk could be called upon to pick up grocery donations infrequently, or help with other Brown Bag operations activity in the warehouse, including sorting fresh fruits and vegetables.
