The Graduate Program Director (GPD) for Speech@Emerson provides leadership and direct oversight for administration and governance for the Communications Sciences & Disorders online Master's Program with over 800 students. The Graduate Program Director is responsible for providing program leadership and upholding curricular, pedagogical and clinical adherence to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and Council for Academic Accreditation standards. The Program Director will oversee program planning and evaluation, curriculum assessment, faculty relations, and course instruction.

In addition, this position will be responsible for the management of advising and academic progress, academic policy and procedure, the student experience and admission standards. The Graduate Program Director will serve as a central partner to 2U, Inc. and institutional departments to inform and advance student and programmatic needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP:
  • Responsible for effective staff management including hiring, onboarding, training and development, and regular performance evaluation.
  • Effectively lead and oversee team members responsible for core programmatic functions.
  • Lead annual and subsequent team planning sessions to ensure functional alignment across core areas.
  • Conduct regular sessions with course Convenors to identify programmatic improvements and standardization, course iterations, and facilitator performance.
  • Serve as a lead informant with college partner, 2U, Inc., for strategic planning, goal setting and attaining operational and service efficiencies.
  • Participate as an active contributor of the department's executive committee, the School of Communication designated committees, and other governing boards.
  • In collaboration with the department executive committee develop and execute strategic plans, and inform operational and structural advancements.

ACCREDITATION AND ACADEMIC COMPLIANCE:
  • Collaborate with department leadership to uphold and support academic, clinical and curricular accreditation standards by effectively enforcing policy and practice.
  • Ensure program compliance and accreditation standards are attained and reported (EdFind, CAA, and SARA).
  • Lead the team in the use of assessment results to inform decisions related to curriculum implementation, currency and development and long-term planning.
  • Establish and facilitate strategies to maintain consistency across the curriculum including course iterations, calibration of facilitators, and curricular updates.
  • Lead program assessments with department executives to ensure parity across curriculums, and within clinical placements, advising, comprehensive examinations, and other program areas.
  • Use course evaluation results to inform program assignments, curriculum innovations and section planning.
  • Partner with College and department stakeholders to ensure students meet program graduation requirements.
  • Collaborate with admissions to ensure policies and practices are fair and equitable while attaining a stable admissions rate.
  • Partner with Admissions in the selection process of new students, and to ensure rubrics are aligned with reader best practices in order to maintain consistent calibration.


PROGRAM EXPERIENCE & EXPECTATIONS:
  • Direct oversight of the student experience, portfolio and academic advising, and immersion.
  • Provide direction and resolution on student escalations such as program extensions, academic misconduct, and performance improvements.
  • Provide direction and support to the community of 150+ course facilitators and convenors of practitioners, faculty, clinical instructors and staff, providing course instruction.
  • Evaluate students' petitions and authorize alumni CFCC ASHA documentation.
  • Evaluate student data and partner with team members to inform and advance student experience and outcomes.
  • Attend Immersion weekends and program ceremonies each semester serving as a keynote speaker and session facilitator.

QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
  • Master's degree with certification in speech-language pathology.
  • 10-12 years of experience in an administrative leadership role within an academic setting, and/or have served in a role overseeing academic governance.
  • Managerial experience overseeing staff and working with or supervising faculty and/or clinicians.
  • Experience developing and enforcing academic policy and procedure.
  • Experience working in a speech and hearing clinical setting and/or ASHA professional certification preferred
  • Experience with online educational programs preferred

  • Able to present effectively to small and large groups and to work productively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with demonstrated ability and comfort to handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to deliver information in a concise, and articulate manner to multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Fluent with webinar technology (i.e. Zoom, WebEx, GoToMeeting, and Skype) preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and presentation software preferred

COMPENSATION

Starting salary for this position will be between $107,828 - $134,786 annually commensurate with experience.

This position is fully remote.

Grade of Position: 23-13E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
