GPRA and Substance Use Assessment Clinician
Job description
The GPRA and Substance Use Assessment Clinician conducts valid research-based assessments (GPRA) with opioid and other substance using offenders at the Hampshire County Jail and House of Correction. Completes administrative and professional work in substance use assessments through the use of validated research tools. Conducts interviews, administers the GPRA (research tool), assessing opioid and other substance using offenders. Performs follow up interviews with research participants, facilitates focus groups for research purposes and performs other substance use and research related tasks. Gathers data, formulates reports and all other tasks as assigned for the purposes of fulfilling the requirements of DPH/BSAS.
- Performs varied and responsible duties requiring exercise of considerable judgement, collaboration, direction and tact.
- Requires resourcefulness to influence the behavior of others to work independently with offenders.
- Interview pre-trial and sentenced inmates with opioid and other substance use disorders performing assessment of substance use diagnosis.
- Significant amount of time spent independently interviwing inmates, administering assessments including the GPRA and screening for direct correlation between susbstance use and criminal behavior.
- Performs administrative functions in accordance with regulations set forth by grant sources.
- Must demonstrate understanding of confidentiality, including the use of confidential inmate files, HIPAA and 42-CFR.
- Perform any other duties as requested by supervisory personnel.
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. LADC-I or other licensure preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and relevant software programs (e.g., data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, qualitative data analysis software) such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
- Experience in assessing for substance use disorder and dats collection preferred.
- Organizational skills to maintain records and coordinate other tasks as required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with participants, staff and supervisors.
- Skill in speaking and writing to persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
- Knowledge of the Massachusetts Public Health Data Warehouse.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
- Valid MA Driver's license required
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation, drug/medical screening.
