The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is one of Georgia's four health agencies serving the state's growing population of over 10 million people. DCH serves as the lead agency for Medicaid, oversees the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) and Healthcare Facility Regulation, impacting one in four Georgians.
Through effective planning, purchasing and oversight, DCH provides access to affordable, quality health care to millions of Georgians, including some of the state's most vulnerable and under-served populations. Six enterprise offices support the work of the agency’s three program divisions. DCH employees are based in Atlanta, Cordele and across the state.
The Department of Community Health's affiliated agency, the Georgia Drug and Narcotics Agency (GDNA), is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Business Support Analyst role. This role will aid in GDNA's mission of protecting the health, safety and welfare of Georgia citizens by enforcing Georgia laws and rules pertaining to manufactured or compounded drugs and to ensure only licensed facilities or persons dispensed or distributed pharmaceuticals by organizing, analyzing, and reporting upon departmental data. The Business Support Analyst will work under the Business Support Supervisor to ensure GDNA Leadership has the information they need to carry out its mission.
Job Responsibilities
Under broad supervision, performs complex administrative duties and statistical, financial, or operational data analysis and reporting in support of management decision making in functional area. Identifies trends, discrepancies, and variances to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. May partner with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, and vendors to address business issues. Exercises various latitudes of independent judgment. May administer or provide high level support for various projects, grants, contracts, implementation of procedures, and/or any specialized functions. Assists with orientation, training, or providing task guidance of junior team members. Provides strategic analysis.
Duties include:
- Maintain database to ensure information accuracy
- Analyze and report data from different data sources
- Communicate information to superiors
- Work with team to quickly respond to queries for additional information
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of experience related to area of assignment. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
AGENCY SPECIFIC PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills /experience):
- Knowledge and experience in managing database systems
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering a team environment
- Ability to manage and work within a very fast-paced, quickly evolving organization and to steer and track multiple, complex priorities.
