Habitat Horticulture is a locally owned company that designs, installs and maintains vertical gardens, interiorscape and green infrastructure with an underlying philosophy that seeks to promote the psychological and environmental benefits of plants in urban settings. We have built a strong reputation by providing thriving installations for clients such as Tesla, the California Academy of Sciences, Facebook, Salesforce, SF MoMA and many others. We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Living Wall Gardener to join our Bay Area Maintenance team in helping make our cities a little greener.
Responsibilities:
- Caring for vertical gardens and interior plants.
- Aesthetic and functional pruning.
- Deadheading.
- Pest & disease management.
- Planting.
- Report problems related to pests, diseases, and/or damage to gardens.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
- Adhering to fertilizer and irrigation schedules, and modifying as needed.
- Effectively communicating with co-workers using mobile technology.
- Pickup and deliver plants and supplies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience and passion in Landscape or Interiorscape.
- Knowledge of ornamental tropical interior plants and exterior landscape plants.
- Common pest identification.
- Irrigation system, operation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with nutrients and fertilizers for plants.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Ability to interpret unknowns and make confident informed decisions.
- Energetic, Hardworking, self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- Degree in Horticulture is a plus.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid California driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate/maintain landscape hand tools and power equipment.
- Maintain a safe working area and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
- Must be willing to work on a ladder and mechanical lifts as needed per site.
