Responsibilities


Position interfaces with internal and external organizations to ensure that event logistics run smoothly by coordinating facilities requirements, security, crowd control, parking, and assisting with event set-up and breakdown. Provides direction for the COM front desk PM staff, and as needed, including front desk duty for all COM facilities, daily parking and traffic control, and after-hours events.

Provides general security for the COM, and periodic foot patrols of the COM. Responsible for training in reception and security protocols, professionalism, foot patrol methods, etc. Responsible for differentiating between emergency and non- emergency situations and making appropriate contact to university officials when necessary. Backup for establishing a weekly work schedule for staffing the front desks of both buildings as determined by the division director.

Responsible for initiating purchase orders for Facilities and Operations by completing requisitions, receipt of goods & services, and interdepartmental requisitions. Responsible for department’s financial reporting requests. Provides oversight of active and ongoing walk throughs of the COM to note classroom status, check all doors, note any problems and report to Facilities Manager, note propped doors, and deter criminal activity. Responsible for ensuring all doors are properly secured, surveying pedestrian traffic entering and exiting the COM during and after business hours and assisting library staff with shutting down the library securely after hours.

Acts as backup for processing and scheduling room reservation request forms and calendar maintenance of COM activities (to include meetings, guest lectures, conferences, etc. held in common areas, classrooms, auditorium, and atrium) and activities on fifteen to twenty calendars, including scheduling activities on the main COM events Outlook calendar, according to established policies and procedures.

Qualifications


A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)

  • Experience in demonstrating effective customer service skills.
  • Experience in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Experience in gathering, interpreting, reporting, and/or editing information.
  • Experience in prioritizing, organizing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to differentiate emergency from non-emergency situations.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of parts, equipment, maintenance and the mechanical operation of motor vehicles.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of event planning and ability to coordinate, organize and evaluate meetings and/or events.
  • Knowledge of University facilities and parking infrastructure.
