What the position is:
The Flight Operations Analyst - Analytics and Projects at CommuteAir requires an individual with a strong data analysis background, aviation knowledge, and an understanding of Root Cause Analysis and SMS processes. The analyst will assist with the Flight Operations Safety Action Team (SAT) meetings and participate in various safety groups. The analyst will also monitor and analyze reports and assist with risk assessments, corrective action plans, and investigations. Other responsibilities include data manipulation and analysis, document preparation, and tracking risk strategy results to enhance operational performance and safety.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in preparation of Corrective Action Records (CARs) as needed for compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Company Procedures, Data Collection Tools (DCTs), and Safety Assurance System.
- Tracking CAR due dates for Flight Ops.
- Assist in Monitoring and tracking Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) for effectiveness over specified time periods.
- Assist developing, defining, analyzing and managing aircraft fuel consumption, to include working with United Airlines on achieving set fuel goals.
- Assist Flight Operations in performing investigations using tools such as TapRoot to identify root cause and CAPs.
- Assisting in establishing, monitoring, evaluating and interpreting data with a risk management focus with an understanding of business strategy.
- Assist in updating Flight Operations Documents, including Memos, Bulletins, and 10-7 Airport Charts.
- Assist performing data manipulation and analysis and present results and recommendations to the SAT Chairman.
- Track risk strategy results. Incorporate observations and data into existing models to improve predictive results.
- Identify deviations from forecast/expectations and explain variances.
- Identify risk and/or opportunities to enhance operational performance and implement and monitor safety enhancements.
- Assist in document preparation supporting 121 Supplemental Operations.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Manager – Flight Operations Analytics and Projects, or their designee.
- Incorporates the Safety Management System (SMS) responsibilities described in the Company's SMS Manual and Title 14 CFR Part 5.23.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload.
- Understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and root cause analysis.
- High School Diploma
