Overview:
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $160,000 and $199,000. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. SMBC is seeking a full time employee to work in the Bank Holding Company ("BHC") Financial Accounting Control team within Controllers department in Jersey City location. This position requires a candidate to direct and manage the capital ratios and credit risk weighted asset calculation for the BHC and group companies.

Responsibilities
- Direct and manage quarterly capital ratios and credit risk weighted asset calculation for BHC
- Direct and manage daily and month end capital requirements and credit risk weighted asset calculation
- Act as a project manager for transition from manual to automated process of capital ratios and credit risk weighted asset calculation using in-house calculation engine
- Manage and responsible for monitoring the dry run testing on the in-house calculation engine and remediate all identified issues with IT and group companies
- Monitor and review data quality issues on the data attributes used for the in-house calculation engine and remediate the issues
- Ensure the automation process rolled out at targeted time and the results are accurately for report filing
- Enhance and manage the process to automate the calculation results into the regulatory report
- Manage and maintain EUC over the capital calculation process
- Interpret the credit exposure and capital impact on new products and ensure the calculation is properly applied
- Work heavily with the group companies and IT to address the issues from capital calculation process
- Manage special projects related to capital
Qualifications
- 10 + years of public and industry experience preferred
- Financial services industry experience preferred
- Familiar with financial instruments esp derivatives and repo style transactions
- Experience in managing a team (3-5 members) and ability to act as project manager
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Proficient in Microsoft applications and other applications, such as excel and word, Alteryx or Tableau
- Good communication/planning skills and analytic and problem solving skills are must
- Detail oriented and well organized
- Ability to balance and prioritize critical responsibilities to meet all necessary deadlines timely
