The Financial Counselor provides system-wide support relating to identifying, coordinating and securing all aspects of financial obligations for self-pay patients and patients with balances after insurance has paid. The Financial Counselor's functions including acting as a liaison regarding financial liabilities, liability estimation, collecting payments, pre-registration of certain patient populations, and working closely with patients to identify and apply proper financial assistance. The Financial Counselor will be responsible for performing detailed audits of guarantor accounts to identify and rectify billing issues and problems.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Onsite - La Crosse, Main Campus

Department: Float, covering multiple areas on the La Crosse Campus

Education and Learning:

  • REQUIRED High School Diploma or equivalency
  • DESIRED Post High School education in a specialized field: Medical terminology course work in insurance (HIAA educational series through LOMA) and ART/CRC course. Certified Application Counselor designation.

Work Experience:

  • REQUIRED 1 year work experience , preferably working in a medical facility, insurance company or office setting.
  • DESIRED 1 year prior financial counseling experience or experience working with patient eligibility and sponsorship.

Pay: $17.75 - $21.50 per hour
