DESCRIPTION

The Health Sciences SWAT team is being established under the VCHS Research Administration Office and will assist Health Sciences departments with transactional support (Cost Transfers, Direct Retros, Fund Changes, etc.). This team will work as part of the Health Sciences Financial Hypercare team which was established to assist departments with reconciliation and transactional support of department financial and faculty portfolios to provide accurate reporting. The SWAT team will partner with the Health Sciences Financial Hypercare research administrators as well as embed independently within a department, depending on need, providing transactional support across Health Sciences, targeting specific issues that may impact a department financial portfolio (Project 0, default accounts, sponsored project, general funds, etc.).

The Financial Analyst will provide financial analysis support that requires analysis of situations and data with multiple factors related to the conversion to the new ESR systems (Oracle, UCPath, Kuali) and financial priority transactions that may impact VC/School/Department financial activities. Incumbent will perform analysis on highly-complex issues and provide recommendations on remediation plans, as well as execute such plans. Duties include processing payroll and non-payroll cost transfers, reviewing and reconciling financial reports between the various subledgers, utilizing various reports to identify upcoming project end dates and update funding as needed; providing root cause analysis on variances identified between systems and process as corrections as necessary. Incumbent is expected to provide training and oversight to transactions and root cause analysis for entry level analysts on the team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.

  • Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.

  • Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments.

  • Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.

  • Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.

  • Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

  • Ability to engage customers and demonstrated strong customer service skills and follow up on tasks, assignments, and projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Oracle and Peoplesoft (UCPath).

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $59,700 - $124,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $28.59 - $59.53

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
