The Finance System Support Specialist provides division-wide technical support to the Financial Operations Division (FOD). The division consists of approximately 75 employees who work in a hybrid environment. FOD staff are located in two buildings. Most FOD employees telework full-time, one work unit works onsite full-time, and several other employees work onsite at least one day per week.

The Finance System Support Specialist will:

  • Evaluate the division’s current technology-related processes, procedures, and tools and recommend, develop, and implement improvements.
  • Serve as the division’s SharePoint and Microsoft Teams Owner to ensure information is organized strategically, FOD can collaborate effectively and efficiently internally and across the agency, and permissions are appropriately managed.
  • Serve as the division’s Technical Service Liaison to guarantee FOD staff have the tools they need to be successful, technical issues are resolved promptly, and the division’s technical equipment is managed appropriately.
  • Facilitate all technical and non-technical aspects of division on-boarding and off-boarding to ensure FOD supervisors and new hires have positive on-boarding and off-boarding experiences.
  • Review and approve access to statewide IT systems, including the StateWide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) system and FOD-owned applications; periodically audit system access to prevent unauthorized access to data.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of professional experience working with IT systems and coordinating customer solutions. Experience must demonstrate:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Teams including creating and managing sites, permissions, navigation, templates, and data storage best practices.
  • Technical knowledge of IT systems management sufficient to understand system roles, identify conflicts, and audit system access.
  • Strong customer satisfaction and communication skills sufficient to be able to quickly understand the customer’s problem and find a solution that meets their needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills sufficient to provide information effectively and in plain language.
  • Advanced creative problem-solving skills sufficient to gain an understanding of the problem that needs to be solved, identify possible solutions, and discern what the incumbent can resolve versus what needs to be escalated.
  • Spreadsheet skills sufficient to enter and format data, sort, filter, and develop basic formulas.
  • Human relation skills sufficient to develop a large network of subject and technical experts.
  • Ability to work within tight and competing deadlines.

Bachelor’s Degree in IT or a related field may substitute for 1 year of professional experience.

Master’s Degree in IT or a related field may substitute for 2 years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using SWIFT and knowledge of SWIFT security roles.
  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to work within teams that include individuals of varying levels of authority both inside and outside the department.
